Hey guys, it's Cristina. I am relaying a message written by Tracy, Tori's mother.
"First, I want to say thank you to everyone who is supporting us in so many different ways. We are extremely touched and words cannot express.
Second, I would like to give you some info that was given to us by the doctor recently. Proton Beam Therapy for brain tumors is considered the gold standard. It will give Tori the least probability of damage to good brain cells and is the most effective treatment available for her. Simple radiation does not spare the good brain tissue, and another surgery could leave her permanently paralyzed on the entire right side of her body (or worse) and current experimental drugs are causing other vital organs to fail. In order for her to have the best chance at a normal life, she has to have Proton Beam Radiation. We have been told that there's only a 20% chance that the tumor will recur within 5 years after proton therapy. No other treatment option is as hopeful as this one.
Third, even though Tori's physical symptoms have grown worse over the past week, she is still mentally and emotionally strong and ready to fight this thing. Please continue to let everyone know about her case so that we can get her treatments started as soon as possible, even if insurance won't cover it.
