Hello! Tori here. Hope everyone is having a great Monday. Today I want to share some facts about proton radiotherapy.
Proton radiation has a low entrance dose and no exit dose. This means that the tissue being radiated is almost exclusively tumor tissue. Which in turn means that proton radiation spares healthy tissue, whereas normal radiation does not. Proton radiotherapy has little to no side effects and is more easily tolerated than standard radiation. It is non invasive and painless (yay!). And it is considered the "gold standard" for brain tumors.
